Follow these simple steps to stay organized from the first box to the final move-in.
Declutter First
Donate, sell, or toss anything you do not need. The less you move, the faster and cheaper the process usually becomes.
Pack by Room
Keep kitchen items with kitchen items, bedroom items with bedroom items, and avoid mixing random things in the same box.
Label Like Crazy
Add the room name, box contents, and “FRAGILE” where needed. Clear labels make unloading much smoother.
Before You Pack
- Start early. Begin 2–3 weeks before moving day to avoid last-minute stress.
- Clear the clutter. Donate, sell, or throw away items you no longer use.
- Gather supplies. Stock up on boxes, packing tape, markers, bubble wrap, and trash bags.
- Make a room-by-room plan. Pack one area at a time so everything stays organized.
Smart Packing Tips
- Use small boxes for heavy items. Books, tools, and dishes should not go in oversized boxes.
- Use large boxes for light items. Pillows, towels, linens, and bedding are perfect for bigger boxes.
- Protect breakables. Wrap glass, dishes, mirrors, and fragile decor with bubble wrap, paper, towels, or clothing.
- Fill empty space. Prevent shifting by filling gaps inside boxes with soft material.
- Keep documents with you. IDs, lease papers, passports, and important files should stay off the moving truck.
